Step by step
From rego to handover.
Most of it happens on your phone. The photographer is the only visit you need to arrange.

- 1
Start with your registration number
We look up your car's details. You confirm them, then add photos, condition, history and your asking price. - 2
Approval and listing fee
We review your application. Once approved, you accept the seller terms and pay the listing fee. - 3
Professional photos at your place
A local photographer contacts you to book the shoot. We prepare a description from the facts you supply. - 4
You approve the listing
Nothing goes live until you approve the photos, description, specs and price together. - 5
Enquiries kept together
Interest from your listing is gathered in your portal. Buyers complete an ID check before a viewing at your place is confirmed. - 6
Your decision on every offer
Buyers make their own offers. You accept, decline or reply with your own terms, and see your expected proceeds first. - 7
Independent escrow and handover
The buyer pays into iPromise escrow. Funds are released to you under the agreed terms after handover.
What you get
Less routine admin. More control.
- Registration lookup to prefill your car's details, with a manual route if it fails
- A professional photo shoot at your place, booked directly with the photographer
- A description written from the facts you supply, keeping every fault you disclose
- Your listing on Motor Match and our social channels, plus a pack to list on Trade Me yourself
- A dedicated enquiry number and email for your car, so interest lands in your portal
- ID-checked viewings booked into times you choose
- Written offers with your expected proceeds shown before you decide
- A documented agreement, independent escrow and a handover checklist
You stay in charge
You set the price, approve the listing, choose your viewing times and decide on every offer. Our team can pass on a message or prepare a document from your written instruction, but never accepts, changes or negotiates an offer for you.
Clear fees
A listing fee once you are approved, and a platform success fee if your car sells through Motor Match. Partner charges are always shown separately.

Before you start.
Selling in trade?
Please tell us when you apply. Trader sellers keep all of their own obligations, including registration, Consumer Information Notice and consumer guarantee duties.Who sells the car, Motor Match or me?
You do. Every car on Motor Match is sold privately by its owner. Motor Match provides the platform, the presentation and the supporting services. The sale agreement is made directly between you and the buyer, and Motor Match is not a party to it.
Does my car stay with me?
Yes. Your car stays at your place. A local photographer comes to you, and viewings happen at a time and place you set in your availability.
What does it cost to list?
There is a listing fee once your application is approved, and a platform success fee if your car sells through Motor Match. The current amounts, what they include and what they do not include are on the fees page. Pricing is subject to change before launch.
Do I get to approve the listing?
Always. We prepare a description from the facts you give us and a photographer shoots the car, but nothing goes live until you approve the complete listing: photos, description, specs and price. Any material change later comes back to you for approval.
Can I also list my car on Trade Me?
Yes. We give you a listing pack with your photos and approved description, plus your Motor Match enquiry number and email. You list it from your own Trade Me account. We never ask for your Trade Me password.
Who negotiates the price?
You and the buyer. Offers are always the buyer's own and replies are always yours. Our team can pass on a message or prepare a document from your written instruction, but never accepts, changes or negotiates an offer for you.
I sell cars in trade. Can I use Motor Match?
Please tell us when you apply. If you are in trade, you keep all of your own obligations as a seller, including any registration, Consumer Information Notice and consumer guarantee duties.
